About
History
The story of the American University in Switzerland began in 1963, at the creation of the American College of Switzerland, with the vision of combining the effectiveness of American graduate education with the Swiss work ethic. Building upon this vision, four of the ACS (American College of Switzerland) teachers created the American Graduate School of Business in 1991. To accommodate its growth, AGSB moved from its initial location at the Hotel Excelsior in Montreux in 1991 to La Tour-de-Peilz and finally to its present-day larger campus, still in La Tour-de-Peilz, which can now welcome 400 students. In 2019, the school changed its name from the American Graduate School of Business to the American University in Switzerland to reflect its growing international education status.
Education
The American University in Switzerland pays special emphasis on hands-on experience throughout with the guidance of professionals in the business field. AUS offers English-language business education programs classified at undergraduate and graduate levels and include Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degree programs in Business Administration. These Business Administration programs are offered with various specializations such as sports marketing, international business, leadership and change, data analytics, human resources management, aviation management, etc. Moreover, American University has entered into partnerships with Tiffin University and Cornell University.
Tiffin University Dual Degree
American University in Switzerland (AUS), located in La Tour-de-Peilz, Switzerland, and Tiffin University (TU), located in Tiffin, state of Ohio, USA, has entered into a partnership, the Dual Degree Program (DDP), allowing AUS students to obtain a dual degree from both institutions.
Cornell University Certificates
AUS has a collaboration with Cornell University, which will provide AUS students studying a Bachelor or Master program in Switzerland, access to professional certificates from Cornell University through the eCornell platform, ranked in the top 20 universities worldwide.
Services & Facilities
Classrooms
AUS’s classrooms and facilities are designed to provide their students an innovative and interactive learning environment. All classrooms are equipped with the latest interactive smart screens, allowing faculty members to manage individual and teamwork projects.
Library
The library located at the AUS campus is accessible to all its students with all relevant research material and online databases such as EBSCO, ProQuest, and Financial Times, while a computer room with a fiber-optic connection is also at the students’ disposal.
The Metropolis Snack Bar
The Metropolis Snack Bar at the AUS provides coffee from its Starbucks machine, hot meals, snacks, and refreshments throughout the day at attractive student prices and acts as an informal meeting place for students to connect. If you prefer to eat out, there are plenty of quality cafes and restaurants within walking distance of the campus.

International Recognition
- AUS is accredited by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE, USA). The AUS’ IACBE accreditation has gained CHEA (The Council for Higher Education Accreditation) recognition in January 2011.
- AUS has been awarded accreditation by ECBE (European Council for Business Education) in 2018.
- AUS is named by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as an official IATA Authorized Training Center.
- The American University in Switzerland is accredited by the Awards for Training in Higher Education (ATHE).
- The American University in Switzerland is a recognized university by the United States Department of Veteran Affairs. US veterans can apply to study at AUS and obtain a GI Bill. The GI Bill® is an education benefit earned by members of Active Duty, Selected Reserve and National Guard Armed Forces and their families. Eligibility for veteran and dependent education benefits is determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). GI Bill® benefits can cover a percentage of tuition and mandatory fees based on the length of active duty service as determined by the VA.
